Got a hyperfixation or niche obsession you could write a whole book about? UNFURL wants to publish your passion — and they’ll pay you for it.
This new publication is all about giving autistic writers a platform to dive deep into their special interests — without needing to center autism unless they want to. Whether it’s bugs, baking, train systems, or anime lore, no topic is too “out there.”
Who can pitch:
- Anyone on the autism spectrum (no medical diagnosis required)
- New and unpublished writers especially encouraged
- No previous writing experience needed
What they’re looking for:
- Non-fiction essays between 1,000–3,000 words
- Personal, passionate writing about your chosen topic
- Fiction may be accepted in some cases
🚫 No poetry for now
Pay: £150 (~$190 USD) per piece

About UNFURL:
Run by UK-based autistic writers Kat Benedict and Marsh Ana (they/them), UNFURL is a zero-budget project rooted in joy, community, and giving autistic writers a place to be heard — not pathologized.
So if your special interest has ever felt “too weird” for mainstream platforms — that probably means it’s perfect for UNFURL.
Let it unfurl. 🌱
