Tell stories that matter to Boston’s Latino community this summer.
The Latino Newsletter, led by founder Julio Ricardo Varela, is hiring a freelance multimedia journalist in the Greater Boston area, thanks to support from the Boston Foundation’s Community Leadership Pathway. This is a paid, part-time gig for someone who knows the city, understands its Latino communities, and can report with authenticity.
What You’ll Do:
- Report and produce 4 multimedia stories (text + video) on local Latino issues.
- Pitch story ideas and work closely with the editorial team.
- Interview community members, experts, and leaders.
- Shoot visuals and write stories that connect and inform.
- Publish your work on a platform with national reach.
Pay: $500 per story — $2,000 total for four stories
Timeline: May 22 to August 15, 2025
Location: On the ground in Boston — this is not remote.
Who You Are:
- You’ve got journalism experience — student media, freelance gigs, or indie work.
- You know Boston’s Latino neighborhoods and culture well.
- You can write and shoot video like a pro (or a fast learner).
- You hit deadlines and can work independently.
- Bonus: You’re bilingual in English and Spanish.
