What They’re Looking For:
The BBC World Service is accepting pitches for audio documentaries from writers and journalists worldwide — especially those outside the traditional audio world. This is your chance to tell compelling stories that reach a global audience.
There are several categories open for submissions:
✅ The Documentary (30 & 60 minutes): One-off reported documentaries with a global focus. Avoid UK/USA-centric stories unless there’s strong international relevance.
✅ In the Studio (30 minutes): Go behind the scenes with artists, musicians, designers, and creatives as they make their work.
✅ Heart & Soul (30 minutes): Explore personal stories of faith, spirituality, and their impact on communities.
✅ Witness History (9 minutes): Tell first-hand accounts of historical events, including Sporting Witness for iconic sports moments.
✅ Solutions Journalism (23 minutes): Stories about efforts to save or improve the world.
This year, they’re actively seeking pitches from writers new to audio storytelling. Collaborate with an audio producer or bring your unique narrative voice to radio.
