Trails is looking for fresh, adventurous voices to contribute to their upcoming Issue 13. They want creative, original stories that push the boundaries of endurance and backpacking.
What They’re Looking For:
- “The Experiment” Column: 800-word first-person stories that test a unique backpacking skill or challenge (e.g., DIY gear, catching all your own food, sleeping in a hammock instead of a tent). Tie it to endurance and share your honest experience. Pitch to stasia@trailsmag.net.
- Essay Submissions: Reflective, creative pieces tied to endurance. Avoid clichés like “I did something hard and overcame it.” Unique, high-quality prose is key—include a sample paragraph if possible. Pitch to stasia@trailsmag.net.
- Feature Story: One more slot for Issue 13, ideally centered on a desert backpacking trip. Could be an adventure story, profile, or reporting piece. Pitch to ryan@trailsmag.net.
