Creativity

Stories examining creativity, inspiration, artistic practice, wellbeing, and methods writers use to sustain their creative lives.

Feature articles are typically around 1,600 words and include a 200-word sidebar containing additional resources, practical advice, or a writing exercise.

Examples from the upcoming issue include:

• Finding surreal inspiration in everyday life and applying it to fiction writing
• The value of writing mentors and mentorship opportunities for authors
• How ecstatic dance helped reignite creative inspiration

Mslexia is also looking for pitches for its Agenda section, a 3,000-word reported journalism feature exploring major issues affecting writers, publishing, and the literary world. Recent examples have examined challenges facing independent publishers and possible solutions for the sector.

Writers with fresh ideas, strong reporting skills, and unique perspectives on creative writing, publishing, and literary culture are encouraged to pitch.
